The fortnightly sale of Store Hoggs had an entry of 1466 forward, with only 700 entered for the catalogue and then the number forward for the sale we would strongly recommend vendors to advise the office of entries to help when contacting buyers.
There was a buoyant trade throughout especially for short keep hoggs plenty of hoggs sold around the £80 mark. Topping the trade today at £86 was Beltex hoggs from BJ Bowness, Kendal. Texels sold to top of £84 from AD & S Milburn, Millom and £82 from AJ & SE Burrow, Milnthorpe with other Texels selling to £81 from HM Hodgson, Kendal. The Charollais trade topped at £79.50 from T Sharp, Kendal with others to £79 from D & D Huddleston, Wray. Plenty of pens of hoggs easily sold in the seventies with the buyers forward eager to purchase. Upland hoggs saw Teeswaters sell to £75 from JM Jackson, Carnforth. Mule sold to a top of £72 from JD, EM & JA Atkinson, Kendal, with others to £71.50 from T Sharp, Kendal. Plenty of pens of Mules sold around the £70 mark. Horned lambs sold to a top of £68 for Rough Fells from M & G German, Kirkby Lonsdale with other Rough Fells to £63 from JH Barker & Son, Ulverston. Swaledales sold to £55 from D & D Huddleston.
